A season spent
outdoors, together.
Rooted Nature School is a small, parent-participation nature program for children ages 0–12 and the grown-ups who join them. Wednesdays in a Muskegon-area nature preserve — summer and fall 2026.

Two seasons in 2026.
Same parent-participation format, the same handful of families, the same Wednesday rhythm — once in summer and once in fall.

Same families welcome to join either session — or both. Each season runs as its own small consistent group.
What it is.
What it isn't.
A small nature gathering where children explore real woods with the grown-ups they trust most.
A grown-up stays with each child every week — beginning to end. This is not a drop-off program.
Siblings stay together. Younger children watch and follow; older children lead and mentor.
The same handful of families every Wednesday. A real seasonal rhythm, not a rotating crowd.
A loose framework that meets each child where they are — without scripts, worksheets, or pressure.
Real weather. Real woods.
Real attention.
Each Wednesday is shaped by the season — what's blooming, what's in the water, who shows up under a log. There is opening circle, a guided activity, free exploration within boundaries, and a quiet regroup before we go home. The pace is unhurried on purpose.
The honest
logistics.
A grown-up stays with each child for the full session, every week. This is part of the program, not a quirk of it.
We meet at a Muskegon-area nature preserve. The exact meeting point is shared with registered families to keep the group small and the land respected.
We meet in most weather, dressed for it. We adjust scheduling for storms or unsafe conditions and let families know early.
Spots are intentionally limited so the same small group meets all eight weeks of a session. Each season has its own headcount.

- No. Rooted Nature School is parent-participation by design. A grown-up stays with each child for the full three-hour session, every week. The program is built around having you there.
- Children ages 0 to 12. The group is mixed-age on purpose — younger children learn from older ones, and older children grow into mentors. Siblings stay together.
- Yes — siblings are encouraged to come together and there is a sibling rate of $115 (vs. $150 for the first child). Mixed-age groups are part of how the program works.
- A nature preserve in the Muskegon, Michigan area. The exact meeting point is shared once a family is registered, to keep the group small and the land cared for.
- We meet in most weather, dressed for it — light rain, wind, heat. We reschedule or cancel only for storms, lightning, or unsafe conditions, and we let families know early in the day.
